i had the change to sit in with the Leon Thomas Band on drums.
The gig was a rain out, but we still had fun. The guys were professional and great to jam with. I was pleased with the opportunity to fill in with them!

Leon Thomas started singing early in life. It was always a passion but he hadn’t pursued it professionally until a friend entered him into the Tennessee Country Music Awards competition. “It amazes me that the help of one friend who cares so much about you can lead you out of despair with one simple action and in such a short time,” said Leon. Leon went on to win Vocalist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year and represented Tennessee in the North American Country Music Awards National Finals in 2011 where he was awarded Vocalist of the Year, Entertainer of the Year and was nominated for Songwriter of the Year. In 2012 he was awarded Songwriter Of The Year at the North American Country Music Awards competition. In 2013, Leon began assembling the musicians that would ultimately become The Leon Thomas Band.
Dave Rush began playing music around age 10. He started out playing guitar and bass in church and became interested in drumming through his brother. “I fell in love with it,” says Rush. Dave toured with local and regional acts playing anything from bluegrass and country to heavy metal for several years. “I find something that I love in all styles of music. What I love about this group – we all have diverse backgrounds.”
Cassidy Melhorn grew up listening to country and rock and says he fell in love with the guitar when he was 11. Experiences and hardships honed his skills as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter. “I have played in several bands over the years and have met a lot of incredible musicians along the way,” says Melhorn. He believes that determination and God’s favor will continue to create the path to success and the success of those he is honored to play among.
Clark Walker has been performing live for over 35 years. “My earliest influence had to be Danny Hutchins, my next door neighbor as a kid, who has been Charley Pride’s Piano player for 35 years.” Clark spent 5 years with RCA Recording Artist Tracy Lyndon and played with Grand Ole Opry star Del Reeves. He has toured with Wynona Judd, Clint Black, Desert Rose Band, Dan Seals, Randy Travis, Ricky Skaggs, Lynn Anderson and Lori Morgan. “My steel player in Tracy’s Band, Jim Bob Gariet, has been with Kenny Chesney the last 12 years,” said Walker, “On the Rock side i’ve done shows with Rick Derringer, Molly Hatchet, Jackyll, The Tubes, Coolio, Blackberry Smoke, BB King, Barbara Striesand, Harry Nillson, Frank Zappa, Ringo Starr, Mick Jagger, and was John Uribe’s go to Bassist. My biggest influences on Bass are Paul McCartney, Geddy Lee and Dee Murray. Clark played the Full Throttle Saloon seven years in a row before he left Big/Gun and was featured on the first season of the show, BIG/GUN, the AC/DC tribute act.
Joe Zeppy Schnorr began playing guitar at age 12. He took lessons for a year but found he was “learning more on my own than through the Mel Bay Method.” “Though I grew up hearing country music courtesy of Mom, I cut my teeth on Hard Rock and Metal,” said Joe, “I love the way everyone in LTB fits together! Whoda thunk that a Metal Guitarboy would mesh so easily with these talented and….dare I say….handsome hooligans?”
