When we show up, leave all the work to us! All we need from you the day of need are chairs. We will setup and tear down our own stands and bring our own music, in addition to anything you may want us to play.
Let's look at a typical wedding service as an example.
15 to 30 minutes of prelude music before the ceremony begins,
Ceremony music (entrance of mothers, groomsmen, bridesmaids, bride processional, unity candle, recessional, etc.),
Postlude piece(s).
In addition, we can also play for the wedding reception during the cocktail hour.
But that's just one basic outline. The possibilities are endless, just let us know what you had in mind and we can work with you!
Hi! My name is Michael Lambert! I'm a classical violinist originally from Louisville, Kentucky. I recently graduated from the University of Louisville School of Music with a degree in Violin Performance and have years of experience in stage performance and coordinating events that involve musician facilitation. I have performed with professional orchestras throughout Kentucky and have literally played hundreds of classical music gigs around the country. I would love to help make your event the perfect occasion!
As a musician, I am here to offer my services to make your event the talk of all your friends! I offer services that range from any combination of solo violin, string duet, string trio and string quartet at competitive rates that can meet most budgets. If you had something else in mind or were looking for a special accommodation, let me know! I'll be happy to work with you to get you what you need!
With my service, you'll get professional musicians who are prepared, rehearsed and experienced. We bring everything with us so don't worry about the music. Let us take care of it!
Like I said, all that we really require are chairs the day of the event!
Having said that, there are a few things that you should know.
Inclement Weather:
String instruments, and indeed all instruments cannot be played in rain or extreme temperatures of any kind especially in exposed (uncovered) venues. While it goes without saying that you've done a lot to have your event, we've done a lot to have these instruments. It rarely happens, but we do reserve the right to declare a particular weather condition to be unsuitable for playing outside. In that event, we will do everything in our power to see that we can play as scheduled if that means waiting or moving to an indoor location. I, personally, have never had to exercise this right. We're pretty easy to work with and we don't mind waiting within reason for the weather to clear!
Overtime:
When we play for your event, rest assured that you will get the full amount of time for which we are hired. Your event will include, when appropriate, prelude music and postlude music plus a built-in 15-minute window in case something causes a delay. For example, let's say your outdoor wedding starts at 6 pm and you want a half-hour of prelude music starting at 5:30 pm. We will show up at 5:15 pm to get set up. If there's bad weather that causes a delay to the start of the ceremony, we will wait fifteen minutes before the overtime kicks in. In essence, if your ceremony lasted a half-hour you'd have us scheduled until 6:45 pm in the event of a delay.
As active musicians, it is very common for us to have two or three gigs in one day so it is crucial that we arrive to each one as scheduled. In the event that you need/want us to play longer than expected, an overtime fee will be applied.
Pre-Event Scheduling:
If you require that one or all of us be at a rehearsal or meeting that occurs before the event, a different rate may be applied. Most of what we do is fairly standard so for our sake it is not always necessary for us to attend rehearsals or planning meetings. But if you feel you need us present beforehand, just let us know! We will do our best to answer any questions.
Sound Systems:
We do not currently offer any kind of amplification system. All of our instruments are acoustic. If you have a sound system that you want to use, just let us know in advance and we'll be happy to accommodate you, but it will be your obligation to set it up and tear it down.
Recording:
Feel free to audio and video record us to your heart's content unless we specifically ask that you don't. Take as many pictures as you'd like. As long as we can do our jobs as musicians, document the occasion however you wish!
Standard classical repertoire
Broadway selections
Contemporary pop
If there is a specific piece or pieces you would like to hear at your event, just let us know beforehand and we will see that it can be performed.
