We will bring the farm to you with a variety of animals. Being a family operation our animals are family friendly and sociable. We can accommodate most events. Sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, donkeys and puppies are some of the critters we have for use in our petting zoos.
The Thayer Family Petting Zoo joined us for our company holiday party. They also brought ponies for the kids to ride. The petting zoo included Pyrenees puppies were adorable. Baby goats were beyond cute. Soft bunnies, a sheep and a pair of long haired mini pigs. All the animals were friendly, gentle and did not mind the children at all. This was a very hands-on experience for the kids, with most of the children getting in the pens to pet and interact with the animals. A couple of the very shy children stayed outside the pens & were still able to pet, touch and feed the sheep, baby goats and rabbits.
The pony rides were the highlight for most of the kids. The Thayer’s walked a loop along 2 sides of our building that gave the kids about a 3 - 4 min ride on the ponies. This was perfect. With many of the kids riding multiple times. The wait time for a pony ride, at the busiest time was maybe 4 - 5 minutes.
The whole Thayer family helped, including their children. The Thayer children were helpful, gracious, friendly and patient. They encouraged and interacted with the other children. Answering questions and helping the kids be comfortable with the animals. We had about 30 kids at the party. Many of our younger kids had no experience with farm animals at all. The Thayer’s children were truly helpful & were a wonderful addition.
The Thayer’s came in, setup (including a hand sanitizing station), then packed up and cleaned up when the party was over. One of the easiest, most rewarding additions we have ever had for our kids.
Response from Thayer Family Homestead:
We truly appreciate your thorough and genuine review of us. Being our first year in business as a petting zoo and offering pony rides this review really means alot to us. We strive to be everything you said we were. This is definitely a family operation and my children are just as grateful for the heartfelt review. This by far has been one of our most rewarding and enjoyable jobs. Scott was so thoughtful, offering everything we could potentially need up front, including outside heaters to keep us and our animals warm. His Christmas party guests were by far the most polite and friendly group of people. The kids said Thank you countless times and had so much appreciation for the pony rides. Every single person was gentle and kind to our animals and the adult group had a fantastic sense of humor. We left with cold drinks, extra tiramisu and Poinsettias!!! We hope we can be of service again next year!

We have clean edged panels to enclose our animals. Inside our enclosure we will have a pig or 2, exotic KuneKune piglets from New Zealand. A rabbit or 2 that is overgrown with luxurious fiber that will fill your hands with cuddly softness. Hand raised adult and baby dairy goats who think people are the best thing on this planet. They love hugs and tons of petting. Various poultry, hatched right here on our farm our chicks and ducklings follow people everywhere and are easy to hold and pet. We have a donkey that thinks she is a lap dog and gorgeous blue eyed pony who is fantastic with leading children around on. Our kids interact with our visitors and show them how to hold and pet all our animals for the best experience possible. Animals may vary depending on time of year and event set up.
I have been working with livestock for over 20+ years. We own a family run farm and we as a family raise all the animals we use for our petting zoos and pony rides. Majority of the animals we use are born right here on our farm and are handled and loved on from day one. My children run this business with me and are my everyday helpers and are the ones to be by my side when we do an event. You will find we love sharing our animals with people and are compassionate and professional.
Reservations must be made 2 weeks prior to the event date. Short notice events will be handled on a case by case basis.
Due to the nature of our ‘out of office’ service we need you to take into account that there are acts of God that are beyond any normal person’s control such as but not limited to, inclement weather such as rain, snow, sleet, hail, lightning, thunder, earthquakes, heavy winds, etc. It is the duty of the event host to notify us of any inclement weather at the events location within 4 hours of the scheduled event. The event can be rescheduled on another day, and or deposits can be refunded. However, if the host fails to notify us of inclement weather and we make an attempt to arrive at the event location deposits may become non-refundable due to the fact we spent irreplaceable time prepping, loading and transporting animals and equipment. If inclement weather poses a risk during the event we may prorate the event fees. For example, if we made it halfway through the 2-hour event, you can be refunded the $100 that that second hour cost so on and so forth. This is dealt with on a case by case basis.
Due to unpredictable traffic conditions and inclement weather that can vary depending on our distance from the event, please be advised that the scheduled start time of your party is subject to a 30-minute leeway. Although we make every attempt to arrive early and be prepared.
Reserved parking is mandatory for our vehicle and trailer. We need a safe and adequate location to unload and load our animals and equipment. Our rig is approximately 40 feet long and the area needs to be easily accessible. If a spot is not reserved it can and will cut into our set up time and if it forces us to unload in a compromised area you may be charged a $50 set up fee to help accommodate the extra time and effort we need to put into our set up.
Our pony riding area needs to be free of any obstacles or hazards. We prefer even terrain to avoid tripping or exhausting the animal. We require an area away from jump houses, any play equipment, live bands or any activities that involve items being thrown, hit or that may involve children running around as that may compromise the animal’s concentration and comfort level. Our animals are highly trained and desensitized but they can be unpredictable due to fear and forget their training which can put people at and the animals at risk. Our pony area needs to be 30 feet by 30 feet minimum but more is better. Keep in mind if the area is grassy, damage may occur and we are not liable for those damages.
Please be sure to provide a safe and debris free area for our farm animals that is separate from the pony area. This area needs to be a minimum of 12 feet by 12 feet although a bigger area allows for more animals and more room for participants to enjoy said farm animals. The area needs to be free of landscaping as the animals will consume and destroy all forms of landscaping and we are not responsible for damage, we also need to keep poisonous plants away from the farm animals so by keeping all landscaping out of reach we are insuring our animal’s well-being. Keep in mind if the area is grassy, damage may occur and we are not liable for those damages.
We reserve the right to include or exclude animals for any reason we deem necessary as we are solely responsible for our animals and we need to consider their health and well-being.
Waiver and release of liabilities need to be filled out prior to any participants access to our ponies or farm animals. Event Host must fill out a waiver and release of liability as well. The release of liability can be downloaded and emailed to your attendees or it can be printed and filled out at the beginning of your event.
Fuel is covered up to a 50 mile radius from our location. Beyond that there will be a charge of $0.40 per mile.
ALL children must be supervised at all times. We will not be responsible for injuries or accidents incurred by unsupervised children.
Our farm animals and ponies are living and breathing creatures, not machines. They are to be treated with respect by the event host and all of the host’s attendee’s. No running, chasing, hitting, screaming at, yelling at, throwing at, picking up or exhibiting any threatening behavior towards the animals.
No climbing or sitting on our pens or fencing is allowed. Damages to our equipment by host or host’s attendees will be the sole responsibility of the event host.
All outside food and drinks must be kept far from the animal zone for the safety of the animals. There will be designated food that is appropriate for feeding said animals.
No dogs are allowed anywhere near the animals or ponies. This is for the safety of our animals, ponies and participants. Dogs are unpredictable around livestock and can cause fear induced behavior that can become extremely dangerous to our animals and ponies well being but it can create a very unsafe environment for the participants of the party. If you know there are dogs at the designated location of the event, all efforts must be made to secure the said dog(s) out of sight in an adequate location.
Closed toed shoes and helmets are required for any participant to ride a pony. Shoes in general are required for entry into the animal zone.
No smoking is allowed anywhere near our ponies, farm animals or handlers.
Only handlers are allowed to handle the ponies or animals at any time. Parents may be near their children when riding and may take pictures but they are not to interfere with the handler as they are trained professionals.
Hand sanitizer will be provided near our animal zone and pony rides, please instruct participants to use it often.
