I’m Shannon Upton, a Christian speaker who specializes in women's events. I'm also the author of the Organizing You Books, but my favorite way to minister to others is through speaking—sharing my ministry message in a powerful, inspirational, fun way!
I help people use organization as a tool to clear out their Spiritual Clutter, those overwhelming feelings of worry and fear that we all face sometimes. With a little organization and a lot of faith in our Lord, we can all live abundantly in the peace of Jesus Christ.
God has blessed my ministry so much, and I can't wait to see where He'll take me next—hopefully to your church. Read on to see what I'm all about...
Having heard Shannon speak before, I was thrilled she was available to speak at our Women’s Tea! Shannon’s love for the women of God is very obvious. She was vulnerable and open with our women, sharing her testimony with raw emotion. We laughed, we cried; We were encouraged and challenged. Shannon spent time before and after her presentation talking with the women and really listening to their stories with an empathetic heart. She is an excellent speaker who will bring so much to your event. You will be blessed!!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you so much for having me, Shannon. I loved your event and the women of your church were so wonderful. Thank you also for remembering me from a past event and having me come—that's so meaningful to my heart, and I pray that God was glorified!
Our ladies have been talking about the retreat ever since we got home and many said it was the best one ever; Shannon was a big part of that. The messages were incredibly grace-filled. We didn't feel like we weren't measuring up to some perfect organization plan rather we felt loved by God and invited to consider some new tools. We sensed His desire for us all to know to our depth that He wanted better for us than a life filled with anxiety and stress. We gained practical tools to take home, adapt as needed to fit and then put into practice. It has inspired many to make time to be still and spend time with the One who loves us beyond measure! Thank you Shannon!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you so much, Terri! I loved seeing the beauty surrounding the retreat center in Georgia and I felt blessed to be there with such a faithful group of women. I pray that God will use our time at the retreat to bless your ladies for years to come.
We invited Shannon for a women’s event. There is quite a buzz about having her back again. Shannon’s story and ability to connect touched all of us. We searched many speakers and God drew us toward Shannon. So glad we listened. It was blessing to have her with us. Our group was a mix of all ages, churched and unchurched. Yet everyone took something away that applied to them. Shannon was organized and made the whole process easy from start to finish. Shannon spent time connecting with everyone at every table.
What women are saying:
"Please can we have Shannon back."
"Shannon said just what I needed to hear."
"I felt like I was speaking with a friend."
"I learned so many things about myself."
"I felt her faith in all she did."
"I liked that she mention God but didn’t push it, since I am not a church goer."
"How do I follow Shannon at other event?"
"I highly recommend Shannon and pray God blesses her ministry."

Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you so much for having me, Gayle! I had such a wonderful time and enjoyed meeting each woman in attendance. Thank you for writing such a beautiful review and for including responses from some of the attendees. To God be the glory! I believe the Holy Spirit moved during this wonderful event—thank you for hosting it, and thank you again for making me a part of it!
Shannon is relatable, funny and encouraging! Many ladies who attended the event have requested to have her speak again to hear more of the practical information and resources that Shannon has to share!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you, Mindy! I would love to come again! May God bless you and your ministry. :)
Shannon Upton is a gifted speaker! She was well prepared, engaging and a joy to work with. Her message was able to resonate with a diverse group. We were blessed to have her speak at our retreat.
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you so much, Connie! I enjoyed giving each talk, and getting to know the wonderful women of your church. :)
I had Shannon out to speak at our local homeschool support meeting. She was fantastic. We had a pretty good turnout and I know a lot of the women left encouraged and motivated for change. We left with a tangible plan, which was hugely helpful. I loved Shannon’s emphasis on the gospel and her engaging personality. She’s a wonderful speaker and gifted communicator.
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you so much, Christa! I had a great time and I think the Holy Spirit was really moving. Blessings to your group as you continue to meet and encourage each other this year!
Our event was a one day mini-conference where Shannon did three speaking sessions. The focus of the event was helping moms refresh and with emphasis on the Word in order to restore the joy (or provide endurance) of motherhood. Shannon did an amazing job and her sessions did exactly that! She did sessions on her testimony, organization, and hostessing. All of her session were well received! We had approximately 75 mothers attend the event and administered an anonymous survey at the end. She had a 100% satisfaction rating by our attendees. We highly recommend Shannon!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you, Holly! That was such a lovely retreat and I'll remember it fondly. Thank you for the opportunity to speak with such an awesome, mom-filled audience! May the Lord continue to move in these moms in the weeks and months ahead and years ahead!!
We had a wonderful God-filled retreat with Shannon as our speaker. The comments have been overwhelming about what a wonderful speaker she was. She shared her story with us in a God-filled testimony and then shared in two more sessions about how we can de-clutter spiritually so that we can be organized in our thoughts, hearts and homes! But more than that, she has a sweet spirit that was so easy to listen to and work with and I thank her for doing a superb job for our ladies!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you so much, Chricket! I really felt the Holy Spirit moving at your retreat. I pray that God continues to bless the women who came as they reflect on the things God put on their hearts!
Shannon’s presentation on hospitality was right on point and the ladies were very engaged. I suspect that a large portion of the audience will take into account her material as they prepare to open their homes for Jesus.
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you, Ronnie! I hope you're right and that the audience is blessed by the time we spent together. :)
My MOPS group in central Ohio has had the privilege of welcoming Shannon Upton two come speak at our meetings for two years in a row now. Our ladies loved her! She was our highest rated speaker all year, according to our annual survey. We love her down-to-earth advice, great sense of humor and engaging content. The hour just flies by when she’s with us. I would highly recommend Shannon to anyone seeking a speaker for their group and will gladly have her back again next year!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you so much, Betsy! Your words are so affirming. I love your group and will come back anytime! :)
We recently had Shannon at our Women's Retreat. Everyone really enjoyed all her sessions on different ways to organize our lives so we can live more for Jesus and enjoy our home and family even more!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you, Tammy! I had a wonderful time speaking at your beautiful retreat. I pray that God continues to work in the hearts of the ladies who attended!
Shannon is very genuine and down to earth. She was our featured speaker for our fall women's retreat and her story is very powerful. She prepared 3 different messages and a breakout session for our group and all were relevant and very well received! Nothing but compliments from the ladies who attended, we were blessed to have her!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you so much, Krista! I'm so glad you found me, and that the retreat was such a blessing to the women who attended... including me! Praise the Lord for His blessings on this retreat!
Shannon did an outstanding job relating to our ladies from various backgrounds about getting rid of spiritual clutter. The topic was life changing!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you, Tamar! I had a wonderful time speaking to your truly diverse audience. I'm so glad that I got to be a part of your event, and to glorify God alongside you all. Blessings, Shannon
I lead a small moms group in our church and we had Shannon out for our first meeting in December. She gave us wonderful ideas for Christmas to keep our hearts and minds centered on Christ!
Thanks so much for helping us clear some spiritual clutter!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you, Amy! It was a pleasure to come.
Our MOPS group really loved Shannon's talk on organizing family fun. She had some great tips for us and really understood where all of us are coming from with the demands and humorous nature of our lives with young children! Shannon kept the speech energetic and fun, the moms have already requested her to come back next year!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you so much for the review, Jody! I had a wonderful time with your joyful group of ladies and loved hearing all of their laughter. Please do reach out to me when you're scheduling for next year, and thank you again!
What a blessing it was to have Shannon come speak at our Mother's Day Banquet! Everyone from my 11 year old daughter, to the grandmothers who attended enjoyed her talk and learned great tips to clear out that spiritual clutter! We can't wait to dive into her Bible Study based on her books, and look forward to having her back soon!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Chris, thank you so much! It was such a beautiful Mother-Daugher Banquet. You really pulled out all of the stops! Your welcoming spirit, and all of the special touches on the tables, made it easy for me to do my job—helping the women to feel loved and cherished on their special night out. Thank you again!
Shannon Upton spoke to our women's group (along with a few men) on organizing your spiritual stuff. She was very interesting and had everyone's attention. Shannon had a good balance of stories and made some wonderful connections to Scripture. She helped us to see our "stuff" as we should, making it easier to sort through and clear it out. I heard nothing but wonderful comments from those that had attended. One in particular: "I'm so glad I came. She changed my life." I would love to hear more of her presentations. This one was well worth it!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Marsha, thank you so much for the review, and thank you for passing along the positive comments you heard! It warms my heart and makes me so thankful that God called me into this ministry. May God bless your church! And know that I would love to come again sometime! :)
Our church had the privilege of asking Shannon to speak at a mom's night out event. Shannon spoke on "Organized Spontaneity" - her presentation style, along with her topic, were perfect for this event! The women walked away feeling refreshed, affirmed, and equipped to be the kind of mom that honors the Lord AND enjoys the life we've been given! Shannon's engaging personality and openness about struggles in her own life allowed the moms in the audience to instantly relate to her. Not only did Shannon provide encouragement and perspective to the women, but she shared practical advice on how to declutter our lives spiritually and declutter our daily schedules. Shannon's honesty and openness proved to be contagious as our women engaged in table discussions after her talk. Thanks to the handouts Shannon provided, we were able to identify specific ideas we planned to implement, utilizing Shannon's ideas/tools. Shannon truly is a blessing as she shares her life and the life lessons she has learned along the way. Thanks Shannon, for allowing God to speak to us through you!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you, Paula! I was thrilled to have the opportunity to speak at Cypress and I felt like God's hand of blessing was over the whole evening. I hope to be able to speak to the women of Cypress again in the future!
Our church invited Shannon to speak at one of our monthly Moms' group meetings. We absolutely loved her topic - Organized Spontaneity! It was perfect for the stage of life that all of our group members are in. We are all moms of young children who are just trying to do our best in the overwhelming world of mommy wars and pinterest. Shannon taught us how to filter out some of that and just focus on what is important to each of us as individuals, wives, and mothers. We left feeling refreshed and ready to take on motherhood in a new and exciting way.
Response from Shannon Upton:
Jody, thank you so much! I loved speaking to the moms of your group and I hope I can come back soon!
I had the pleasure of booking Shannon to speak to my church's mom's group. The topic was Organizing Belongings. Shannon was engaging, personable & relatable. She contacted me prior to the event & provided detailed information about how the morning would proceed. Shannon was prompt upon arrival & ended on time with a little buffer to ask/answer questions. Shannon's talk was motivational & inspiring. Many of the women left talking about how they were going to go home & start cleaning out their spaces. I'd recommend Shannon to any group ready to get organized! Her practical ideals & delivery make getting started easy. She was a pleasure to work with and I'm sure will have much success in her career.
Response from Shannon Upton:
Wow, thank you, Joy! I enjoyed speaking with your group, and I want to thank you again for participating in my Organizing You Bible Study trial. God bless you!
I booked Shannon for a district spring conference, part of a state org. founded on the premise of preserving and promoting the health and well-being of children and family. The audience was 60 women, ages 30's to 80's. Topic was "Organizing Belongings." What a success! Shannon's talk was informational and
INSPIRATIONAL from start to finish, no awkward moments, well-placed humor, appealing and valuable to all age groups and stages of life. Universal truth! Wonderful incorporation of scripture. Already have her booked at our church in June and will definitely schedule her for future events. Thanks, Shannon! You have become a blessing for many.
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you so much, Anita! I had a wonderful time and thought your event was so well-run. I loved speaking with women in different life stages. I'm blessed that you booked me!
Our group absolutely loved hearing from Shannon. She was our most-loved speaker from last year, and our moms asked if she could return to speak again this year. After hearing her speak, I know I left motivated to get to work on cleaning out my clutter - both material and spiritual. I would highly recommend that you invite Shannon to speak at your next women's event - your group won't be disappointed!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you so much for the kind words, Kimberly! You have such a great group and I hope I can come again next year!
We've had Shannon speak to our MOPS group twice. She has a lot of great information and ideas to share on ways to organize your life and keep Jesus #1 in all aspects of life. Shannon is such a joy to have speak; after our first experience with her speaking our group asked for her to return. She is fun and knows how to keep you engaged.
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thanks, Zibby, for the great feedback. I've really enjoyed getting to know the women of Urbana MOPs!
We had Shannon come and speak to our Mops and Momsnext group at Westerville Christian Church. What she gave to the ladies was information they could take home with them and use. When I put out a survey for the next year they asked for her to come back!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thanks, Heather! I really enjoyed speaking to such a variety of moms and look forward to coming back!
Shannon Upton is an inspiring speaker. She has spoken to our parents twice and they love her! We are in the process of booking her again for next year. Shannon's message of bringing out your inner "Jesus Mom" to connect more effectively with your family and your Lord really connects with our moms. She is funny and engaging. Love, Love Love her and her message!
Response from Shannon Upton:
Thank you, Robin! I have loved speaking to the moms of HUMC Preschool and can't wait to come again. You always make the events so special, with the yummy food and free babysitting… so relaxing and fun for all, including me! Thanks again!

The "My Song" testimonial keynote talk is thirty minutes long and will delight all Christian audiences. This talk is for everyone—we all have a little spiritual clutter! Through the "My Song" talk, I share my personal witness and encourage the audience to find and clear out the clutter in their spirits so they can live in the abundance of Christ. This talk would be appropriate for church-wide events and women's events.
My six specific organizational topic talks are geared for all-women audiences. Each of these talks is 60 minutes long (including a question and answer time) and are a combination of relatable personal stories, realistic organizing techniques, and plenty of scripture. For each talk, l provide a personal reflection sheet that can double as a group discussion guide.
If you’re hosting an event where you know there will be people of widely different backgrounds and beliefs, you may be interested in my 60-minute informal organizing workshop. Though I do share briefly about my faith, I do so in a very laid-back way so the hearts in the audience will stay open to my message. It’s my hope that my love of the Lord will shine through, and that they’ll be interested enough in my material that they’ll want to read my faith-based books and blog.
If you're looking to create a retreat with several sessions, I'd recommend starting with "My Song," then choosing one of my eight topical talks for the main session. If you'd like a third session (or a break-out session), the informal organizing workshop is the perfect addition!
Please note that I offer different talk topics on a rotating basis throughout the year; the "My Song" keynote talk is always offered.
I'd love to come and share my ministry message at your church! Please contact me for a quote today!
Shannon is an organizer who, as a child, used to dream of perfect closets. Once she married and became a mom, she started learning about the benefits of functional, realistic organizing! Now she’s a dedicated wife and mother of three with a passion for living life intentionally for Christ—but she knows that we all face the stumbling blocks of insecurity and anxiety.
During her four-year struggle with a clinical anxiety disorder, Shannon began using organization as a tool to fight anxiety and usher peace into her home and heart. Through this experience, she developed the concept of spiritual clutter and learned how to overcome it with a little organization…and a heart of surrender to the Lord. Now she loves to help women just like you become just “organized enough” to truly enjoy life.
Her favorite ministry role by far is that of a speaker, informing and entertaining audiences while sharing her ministry message. Shannon is a teacher at heart—as a former high school teacher, she’s trained to guide you as you clear out the clutter in your schedule, home, and spirit.
Shannon is the author of the Organizing You books, Biblically-based self-help books that will teach you how to clear out your own spiritual clutter. She has written two Organizing You group Bible studies, blogs, and offers several tremendous resources to help you live in Christ’s abundance. She’s also an encourager who loves to share organizing ideas, prayers, and scriptures through social media. (She admits to being slightly addicted to Pinterest.)
Shannon believes that the Lord allowed her to struggle with clinical anxiety, and then healed her of it, for His purpose. She wants to help you clear out your spiritual clutter so you can fully enjoy your family and grow closer to the Lord.
I prefer not to use a lapel microphone, and you'll need to know how to use your projection system if I have a power point presentation.

Speaking Topics
For any Christian audience:
My Song (Keynote Talk/Testimonial)
This presentation is Shannon’s story. More inspirational than educational, “My Song” is a thirty-minute keynote presentation about living in Christ’s abundance. You’ll learn how the Lord took Shannon on journey from a clinical anxiety disorder to a speaking and writing ministry. You’ll also hear her main ministry message about how we all have spiritual clutter that we can clear out with a little organization and a lot of prayer. You’ll leave this talk feeling uplifted, blessed, and ready to clear out your spiritual clutter! (Note: This presentation is for any Christian audience—including the guys. “My Song” is perfect as a stand-alone presentation, or it will easily combine with one or more of Shannon’s other presentations to create a wonderful women’s retreat.)
For all-women audiences:
Where's Your Time Going? (Time Management)
Time management is the cornerstone of all organization—after all, how can you clean out that closet if you can’t figure out when to do it? And in terms of spiritual clutter, few things keep a woman’s mind and heart more distracted than persistent feelings of being in a hurry, or being too overwhelmed to get to the things that matter most in her life. Our time here is a precious gift from God, and with intentionality and planning, you can make the most of that gift! Shannon will share about goal setting (and realizing that some goals—even great, worthy Christian goals—can wait). Then she’ll guide you through specific, adaptable ways to tackle your goals, prioritize tasks, and enjoy your gift of time.
Should Christians be Minimalists? (Organizing Belongings)
Are you overwhelmed by your material blessings? Actual physical clutter can seriously cloud a woman’s spirit! You can save time, money, and hassle by organizing your belongings in a way that’s realistically maintainable. Shannon will challenge the women in your group to view their “stuff” through the eyes of Jesus—without the guilt trip. Then she’ll share about how much stuff to have in your home, how to sort through your things (even the most sentimental ones), and how to organize any space in a way that will bring peace and contentment into your home.
Dressing to Impress… Whom? (Wardrobe Organization)
Often, we women have spiritual clutter about our appearances that keep us from fully enjoying each day. Whether you love to shop or love your sweats, this is the talk for you! Shannon will challenge the women in your group to take at look at their wardrobes in the light of Jesus. She’ll start by looking at what God says about what we wear (and it’s a lot more than what you might guess!). Then she’ll help you take your wardrobe up a notch by clearing out, filling out, and laying out the clothes in your closet. By the end of this session, you’ll be excited to feel uplifted and confident each day as you dress your body—and your spirit.
Hostessing with Love… and Organization! (Party Organization)
We know that our homes are a gift from God, and that He calls us to show His love through hospitality … but it’s hard to be “the hostess with the mostest.” With Shannon’s help, you can host get-togethers without all of that overwhelming prep work—and without developing a weary, frazzled spirit by the time the party is over! Shannon will start with a practical, Biblical view on hosting, then discusses organizing get-togethers where Jesus’ presence can be felt. Allow her to encourage the ladies in your group to deepen their relationships and further the Kingdom of Heaven through hospitality!
Receiving Christmas (Holiday Organization)
Why do Christian women dread the Christmas season almost as much as they look forward to it? (You know you do.) It’s all that work. Sadly, our Christmas Spirit can be overshadowed by our holiday to-do lists. Shannon’s holiday plan is to help the women of your group discover what clutters up their hearts at Christmas, and then clear it right out! She’ll challenge them to use their holiday to-dos to as a way to grow closer to Jesus, by planning ahead, creating meaningful traditions, working prayerfully, and cultivating a receiving spirit (and, no, she’s not talking about getting presents).
For any audience:
5 Organizing Stumbling Blocks and the 1 Way to Overcome Them (Informal Organizing Workshop)
When you try to organize, do you just get stuck? We all trip ourselves up when it comes to organizing—but we can all learn to do better. In this unique 60-minute workshop, Shannon will challenge you to discover the spiritual clutter that blocks your organizing progress… and encourage you to embrace the truth behind any organizing success. (Note: This presentation is a great additional session for a women’s retreat with Shannon. Or, if you’re hosting an outreach event for your entire community, Shannon can modify this presentation for an audience with varying backgrounds and beliefs. However, she’ll still share her faith a bit—she just can’t help but talk about Jesus!)

As a young mom, I was strongly influenced by Christian organizational great Emilie Barnes! Since then I've read countless organizational books, magazines, and blogs. Even better, I dearly love to read the Bible and am constantly striving to live like Jesus, with Him, and for Him.
And, after my second child was born I developed a clinical postpartum anxiety disorder that lasted for four years. During this time, I learned to face my spiritual clutter head on, tackling it with organization and surrender to my Lord.
I've taken all of the these influences and added my own ideas in order to formulate my ministry message: everyone can use just a little organization and a lot of faith to clear out their spiritual clutter and claim an abundant life with Christ.
I'd love to share that message at your event! Please contact me for a free quote today!
