Great Feel. All emotion and soul with a Rock and Roll edge
Hope in your darkest moments.
That is the philosophy of the band May Day Rising. Influenced by a wide a range of eclectic genres and determined to express their hopeful philosophy, May Day Rising creates a style that sounds both familiar and new. This “nostalgic freshness” comes from their furious lead guitars, a reggae influenced rhythm section, inspirational lyrics, honest themes and earnest, passionate vocals that leave their fans inspired, euphoric and thoroughly entertained.
Formed in 2009, after singer Chris Gullace’s original music partner enlisted in the Marines, the band is focused primarily on performing live at their home base, the PB Shore House in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. This dedication to live performance has helped May Day Rising gain a reputation as a dynamic and engaging band that can keep up with any of today’s headliners. Their themes of love, self-doubt and nostalgia lend credence to the notion that they are also a thoughtful band. And their early success has spread leading to high-profile gigs at rock & roll clubs up and down the Jersey Shore, including several hot nights at the legendary Stone Pony. Accordingly, their audiences have grown from a few hundred people to, at times, a few thousand people.
Playing every weekend, the band constantly works to ensure that their show is both sonically excellent and wildly entertaining, which has helped them develop a rabid and passionate fan base that follows them from venue-to- venue. Not only is their music played with power and unrelenting conviction, but their diverse set list has something for everyone. With its long guitar solos, or the reggae heavy drums of “The City,” the band makes sure to leave every fan satisfied. Their greatest asset, however, is their improvisational flair that perpetually makes the show fresh. One night they may play a reggae version of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” and on another the band members will spend the entire show switching instruments, giving each song a new and different vibe.
May Day Rising is a band that continues to expand its musical footprint through exploration and improvisation and by exercising the demons of your darkest moments.
