Karin Kelleher is a professional violinist with 3 decades of performing experience, and now appears in several DC area professional orchestras and ensembles. Mike Kelleher is a jazz singer/guitarist/arranger/composer who has gigged in the DC area since the 1990s. This new fusion ensemble combines their interests, and is shared with some of the best jazz and classical musicians in the area.
Karin began her career as a violinist in the Knoxville (TN) Symphony and has played with the Milwaukee Symphony, Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, and Elgin Symphony. She has served as concertmaster for the Racine Symphony and the Woodstock Mozart Festival in Illinois. She is currently freelancing in the Washington DC area, performing with the Annapolis and Maryland Symphonies, and the National Philharmonic Orchestra, in addition to numerous other local groups at venues including the Kennedy Center, National Cathedral, and The Music Center at Strathmore. She has collaborated with a wide variety of popular touring bands, including Josh Groban, Barry Manilow, Earth Wind and Fire, Kansas, and Natalie Cole, to name a few.
Mike has been composing, arranging, and performing music professionally for over 30 years. A guitarist and singer, he performs mostly jazz and blues, but at times classical, rock, bluegrass, and other popular genres. He’s also worked as an arranger for vocal and instrumental ensembles, mostly focused on jazz and jazz-classical fusion. The album Melange is a collaboration with his wife, Karin, a classical violinist. He began his college years as a trumpet and voice major (meeting Karin in an 8 a.m. music theory class), learning the basics of harmony, composition, and performance. While his day job has always been something other than music, his passion for composing and performing rich harmonic and improvisational music has never waned. In his collaboration with Karin, he’s composed and arranged music which combines the intimate textures of a string quartet with luscious jazz harmony and rhythm.
We provide a wide range of ensembles. In addition to our 7-piece jazz/classical fusion ensemble, we can offer string quartet, trio, duo, or solo violin.
We may not present the lowest quote you receive, but we guarantee that you will be hiring only the very best professional musicians! We add a touch of elegance and prestige to any event.
