Providing contemporary music for all occasions, James Gedeon combines the vocal style of James Taylor, Jackson Browne and Eric Clapton with a proven virtuosity of the acoustic guitar. His past performances have had him in Pebble Beach, CA providing an opening set for Jerry Seinfeld, and he performed at New York's famed LeCirque for the wedding of Howard Stern where he performed with Billy Joel, Phoebe Snow and Pat Monahan. A true professional, James brings a passion for music and performing to every event.
Great talent, great music, amazing repertoire and can’t wait to have them back
Price Range: $450 - $2500
Gig Length: 60 - 240 minutes
Music appropriate for all events ranging from cocktail receptions and dinners to corporate events and everything in between. James is able to gauge a room during an event to see what material is working best and move the performance in that direction. His vocal style is reminiscent of James Taylor, so the volume (and material chosen) is never too loud or intrusive. From casual events on the beach to black tie events, clients can always count on James' music and presentation to match the event.
Unlike many musicians who will perform short sets and take long breaks, James believes in giving clients what they pay for...and more. While he will always perform within the parameters of time given to him on an event, it is not uncommon for him to play sets of 90 minutes or more before taking a break (breaks rarely go beyond 15 minutes). The variety of his music repertoire is so vast that he can easily provide 4 hours worth of music for clients. In short, James believes in providing quality performances that go beyond a client's expectations, and has developed a reputation for unparalleled courtesy and professionalism with each of his clients.
James Gedeon has developed a reputation as a singer and songwriter able to make even individuals in the farthest reaches of a venue feel as though they are right up front.
A singer/songwriter in the style of James Taylor, Marc Cohn and Jackson Browne, James has performed at New York's famed LeCirque; The Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center and The Waldorf Astoria Grand Ballroom where he was part of the opening band for Dan Aykroyd and the Blues Brothers at The Alzheimer's Foundation annual fundraiser. He has also been able to take his music to areas outside of New York, having performed in Washington D.C. at the Smithsonian; The Harvard Club in Boston; in West Virginia at the renowned Greenbrier Resort; the Rocky Mountain resort of Flathead Lake in Kalispell, Montana; Mauna Kea Resort in Kailua Kona, Hawaii; The Ocean Club (twice) on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, and he even performed for the King and Queen at the Royal Palace in Morocco.
James has also taken the stage at Pebble Beach Golf Club in California with New York's acclaimed Stingers Band (a gig that had James providing an acoustic opening set for comedian Jerry Seinfeld's performance to an audience that included Clint Eastwood). In addition, he's opened for The Marshall Tucker Band, Jay Leno, Dana Carvey and Livingston Taylor. He has also performed with guitarists Oz Noy and Bernie Williams, drummers Dave Weckl and Steve Holley, sax man Mark Rivera (Billy Joel, Ringo Starr, Foreigner) and shared the stage at a private event in Vermont with Harry Connick, Jr.
A professional highlight came when Gedeon performed at the wedding of radio personality Howard Stern. During the ceremony, James accompanied Dixie Chick Natalie Maines on the couple's wedding song, and followed that up by performing 3 duets with music icon Billy Joel. Later that same night, as a member of the house band, James backed up Phoebe Snow in addition to Pat Monahan of Train on the band's hits "Calling All Angels" and "Drops of Jupiter".
James is currently in the studio recording new material for his upcoming album and in rehearsals for his James Taylor tribute show, a 2 hour show which features Gedeon covering over 40 years of JT's music (with full band and in solo acoustic settings).
Some of James' most notable music clients have included ESPN Radio, Life Project For Africa, CNN, WPLJ, 77WABC in New York and The New York Jets.
