For a long time I have wanted to get out on the road and sing country music. I am finally able to do that with a mix of country music and a little rock and roll added in. I sing country songs from Dierks Bentley, Blake Shelton, Brooks and Dunn, Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, etc. Keep an eye out for us on the road. Contact our management company if you are interested in hiring us for your events or festivals. We would love to talk to you about it. We are now booking for 2010.

Traveling to west central Ohio to find out where a small town boy grew up and how it influenced his country background is where we are going today. A country boy from the day he was born, Fred Wells was raised in rural Ohio and started out singing at the age of two and has never quit. He grew up on small farms and spent most of his time on horseback, raising livestock, hunting and fishing in the backwoods of Ohio. “Most of the time my friends came to my house because there was more to do in the country than there was in town, “Fred said. Most of us can remember singing in the back of the car to the local radio station or grabbing a spoon and singing on top the picnic table in the back yard, with our dogs and cats as the audience. Wells, remembers singing when he was two and three years old to anyone that would listen. On the long bus rides home from school, Fred would lead sing alongs with the other kids; he shared his love with music to anyone that would listen. “I would sing anywhere; I was not shy about it.” Fred’s elementary teacher, Mrs. Judy Grubbs, found the talent that Fred had in her first grade music class. Mrs. Grubb’s swing choir was one of the times she made sure he took the spot light and showed his talent.
When he was 12 years old his family moved to another town and that was when Fred’s singing was put on the back burner. It was a small town that was close knit, making it hard for newcomers to fit in to the small circle of the town, and Fred was considered an outcast. The new school was sport oriented and did not promote the music curriculum. Once he entered high school he took part in the choir, ensembles and band, but wasn't doing what he really wanted to.
He didn’t do a lot of singing and didn’t promote his talent until about three years after he graduated. “Actually I was in Hamamatus, Japan, when I got hooked on karaoke. My Japanese coworkers introduced me to karaoke and I would get such praise for my singing, even though most of them could not understand a word I was singing,” Fred said laughing. Six months later karaoke became the thing to do in west central Ohio. Fred never forgot his roots of music and through friends he started singing with a band called “Out The Door” and eventually ended up singing with Jason Wright, who is now a long time friend of Fred’s, and still sings with him in a band called OutRider.
One of Fred’s long time friends and fellow band members, Joe Green, has never denied Fred’s talent on stage. “He is the best lead singer I have ever seen. He knows where to be and he is always on the mark. When we first went on stage with OutRider there were the peanut galleries at the back of the bars making fun of Fred on stage singing. He never faltered, he just kept on singing and he proved he is the best lead singer out there. I have always believed in his talent and I will support him with anything he does.” Always with his eyes on the bigger picture, every performance was a stepping block for Fred to move up, to do what he really wanted to do, perform country music full time and show that he could do this and do this in a big way. “Jason and I have always wanted to do more with the music, but not sure how to proceed or what steps to take. The guys that we presently play with do not want to go further than playing in the local bars, so it made it difficult,” Wells said. “They are not interested in performing original material, they prefer performing cover songs. “
“In October of 2003 we met Pam Egbert, who is now my manager, and we started to think about what we wanted to do with our music. We made a trip to Nashville to meet with Dixana Records and are actively pursuing our dream of making the country music part of our life,” Fred said smiling.
“Fred sings with his heart,” Phil Lister, from Dixana Records, stated. “We can’t teach that to a singer, it has to come natural and it comes so natural to him. You can feel the song when he sings the ballad to you.”
“Being from the humble beginnings of west central Ohio has only strengthened Fred’s music and given him the heart that he has for the country music industry,” Pam said. “When I first saw him on stage and heard him I knew he was destined to be on bigger stages and playing for bigger crowds. He reached out to his audience. “
One of the things that makes Fred different than a lot of singers is his background in music. He knows how to run the sound board and knows how to make the music sound sharp and first class. He carries that first class attitude onto the stage. He works with the fans, moving out into the audience and moving around the stage. “He just knows how to make the crowd happy,” Pam said while a small laugh starts. “There are times I worry as he is already tall and he will do one of his acrobatic stunts for the audience and I just know he is going to hit his head on the ceiling fan. I hold my breath and hope he knows where that fan is or that the song is going to finish quickly.”
If you come to a performance and Fred is the lead singer do not worry if you can see him. If he can’t see you he has been known to step up on the speakers so everyone can see him singing. He wants to give everyone a good view and make it personal for everyone there, so they can share in the music.
When Nashville said Fred Wells had heart they meant it. It is important to Fred that his music is there for his fans. He is willing to work hard and he is willing to do what it takes to get the music out to the public. His heart is on stage and he freely gives it to his fans with every performance. For the past several months Fred has been working with the band 5 Points West. 5 Points West members include: Fred, Jason Wright, John Stockstill, Rick and Kent. They are a modern country band that plays Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean, and their own originals. They are hoping to be on the road the first of next year with their style of music. Fred is going to be the lead singer and will be doing what he does best, country music....
