Two daring women performing a variety thrill-show of classic sideshow and brilliant fire.
The Albany area's only all-female sideshow and fire act comprised of Katana and Shashka, two experienced performers with a variety of skills to offer.
In a fire act you may see Katana's fast-moving, blazing double fire-staffs, Shashka's glittering fire greatsword, a choreographed joint display of fire-eating, and no audience has ever been disappointed by Shashka's towering fire-breaths.
Sideshow acts include broken glass, razor sharp swords, Shaska's pain endurance and human pincushion, Katana's skilled juggling, human blockhead, human crazy straw, and bullwhip targeting.
As the producer for the Bing Bamboo Room Burlesque it has been my duty, for the over the past 10 years, to hire different acts for the show.
It has been my honor to work with these 2 ladies.
They are always prepared, on time and ready to go.
And go they do! I usually place them near to close as it is a great way to have the audience leave with such a strong impression of the show. Class act all the way.
I first saw this dynamic duo at a tattoo expo and I can say they were the hit of the event. The expo almost ground to a halt as these two went through their routine and spectators flocked to watch the vegetables being cut with a very sharp very real sword off of bare skin or bare feet jumping on broken glass. They excelled at making the audience feel like they were part of the performance not just spectators.
There was no waiting for them as with other acts which speaks to their professionalism and dedication to their art. As a photographer I have seen them one more time since that first performance and it was just as much a thrill as the first time.
I saw Fire & Slice perform at a Burlesque Show. Their act was a fantastic blend of fun, weird, scary, sexy, and just plain awesome. The duo have great chemistry on stage and somehow managed to keep the mood light while doing clearly dangerous things to themselves and each other. They were the best act I saw that night!
I have had the delight of performing at shows with Fire and Slice, and it's always a pleasure! Not only are they friendly and professional, the only thing their show leaves you wanting is more!
A little over a year ago, I began my own catering business, which has since morphed into a full service restaurant. Having Fire & Slice perform set the tone for what I wanted to bring to the area. Edgy, classy, engaging, and riveting. The event was hosted by the local Fine Arts Center, and brought in clientele of all ages and backgrounds. Everyone had an amazing time. The women were extraordinary, and their talents provided me the platform to present my culinary arts to the area for the first time in a public venue.
Even now, almost a year later, people still come up to me to talk to me about the show, and they remember exactly what I was serving on that day. Shish-kebabs. What could fit Fire & Slice better?
These woman are talented, personable, professional, and amazing. They perform feats to terrify, yet present their skills in such a way that young and old experienced wonder, not fear.
I can't recommend them highly enough.
Flaming swords, fire breath, & more. I hear they're working on adding a flaming whip too. The night show is definitely worth a trip to see. Unfortunately I was too late to see their daylight sideshow act too.
I am the creator of the dirty dog obstacle race and fire and slice came out to wow the crowd with their abilities. they were able to reign in a fairly rowdy crowd after a race to be silent and mesmerised by the outdoor performance. Between the chopping up vegetables on themselves to fire eating and fire spinning they had something for everyone. it truly is a show that can be for all ages and they are willing to work with you on if you want more of an adult show vs a family friendly. their show truly was a highlight of the inaugural dirty dog race and I am happy that they have agreed to perform in any other races that my search team holds. I can't wait to see them again at Whiteface Mountain this October 2015 for the next race!
The act was exciting, humorous, and very unique. Seemed to entertain the audience equally regardless of age. I'd recommend for a variety of events
I had the pleasure of doing the live sound at the Saratoga Tatoo expo last year. There were three musical acts and Fire and Slice .By FAR the most popular act was Fire and Slice. These two woman captured the crowd and kept them mesmerized. They really got the audience involved, and they Loved it.They are so nice and fun to work with, and work they did . when the headline act was late, they got up and wowed them,I would rate them 10 out of 10. A MUST SEE.
Fire eating, juggling, blades, human pincushion - these girls' ability to pull off such a wide variety of stunts is amazing! What's more is that they do it all while maintaining a sense of humor that makes the experience a whole lot of fun. I highly recommend this show to anyone who likes things that are awesome.
I got the chance to chat with both of these performers after their show and it was really cool to listen to them talk about all the preparation and work they put into their stunts. They both seemed really down-to-earth and were really interesting to talk to. I hope I get a chance to see them again someday.
My son told me this show was going to be offered near me. He also said he wasn't sure if I would like it - he explained it and I thought, "They don't do shows like that any more, do they?" My husband I attended the show and had a marvelous time! These ladies are definitely professionals! They have honed their art so that everything is done perfectly (at least to the onlooker's eye). They interacted well with the audience and each other. I wouldn't hesitate to see them again or recommend the act to friends!
You really don't see sideshows/entertainment like this anymore, and it's a crying shame.
If you're old enough to remember the opening acts in a traveling circus or carnival, or those seemingly curious little side-attractions at the county/state fair, then you might have an idea of what these two talented lovely ladies have in store for you.
Fire Breathing, Sword Wielding, Whip Cracking good times can be had when you see The Fire and Slice Sideshow. Acts such as these must be preformed very skillfully and carefully, and when done right - it's just plain mesmerizing.
So, if The Fire and Slice Sideshow happens to be coming through a town near you for a show, or you have a shindig or happening of your own that you'd want to add a touch of 'eccentric', then this IS the sideshow for you!
I know that I certainly wasn't disappointed, not in the least.
I have had the opportunity to see and photograph these two Ladies on a numerous occasions. Their show is EXCELLENT!!!!! Their Banter between the different talents is enjoyable, they definitely compliment each other.
You get a little bit of everything. Walking on glass, slicing vegetables off each other's bodies with huge...very sharp knives and when they are able, they do various stunts with fire torches.
They are a MUST SEE !!!!! You will be amazed !!!!!

In a typical performance, we would begin with lighthearted banter, continuing into sideshow acts as we showcase some blade-based and sledge-hammer stunts. Keeping it lighthearted eases the audience tension which can be quite high during some of the more dangerous stunts. We love audience participation and often bring spectators on stage to safely assist with acts such as verifying that a cinderblock is real or that needles are genuinely piercing Shashka's flesh.
Then we would move to fire-based acts with musical accompaniment appropriate to the act. The fire eating display involves both performers doing solo stunts as well as working together on some. We would often include fire-staffs and/or fire sword dancing at that point as well also choreographed to music. To finish out a set we usually close with Shashka's fire-breathing culminating in plumes of flame up to 15' high!
While our larger fire acts such as prop spinning and fire-breathing are not appropriate for the vast majority of indoor venues, all of our sideshow is suited for indoor or outdoor shows as is our fire-eating.
Fire & Slice was formed a few years ago when two best friends decided to make a real show out of their hobbies and passions. Combining Katana's experience in juggling and fire-spinning with Shashka's love of dance and theater, we have since branched out into other fire performance and a variety of classic sideshow.
Our list of stunts now includes walking and lying in broken glass, juggling, Human Blockhead with a variety of items including a power drill, Human Chopping Block using a variety of large blades, Human Crazy Straw, bullwhip targeting stunts, spinning a variety of blazing fire props, fire-eating, fire-breating, and cinderblock smashing.
Furthermore, Shashka bills herself as the Pain Queen of Albany with displays of her outrageous tolerance for pain as she demonstrates pushing large needles (even sharpened bicycle spokes) through the flesh of her arms and face, smiling as she snaps animal traps on herself and lays her face in broken glass.
With nerves of steel and a passion for performing, we're ready to rock any event large or small. From bawdy to family-friendly we can tailor our act for your venue and audience.
We provide our own music of our own selection which contains no profanity. Please contact us to discuss custom music selection.
We can use almost any sound system that can connect to a smartphone or play from a CD. Also, where there is no preexisting sound system we can bring our own portable, battery-powered amp and microphone.
For best viewing results for the sideshow acts a well-lit area is recommended so the audience doesn't miss any details.
