Everybody suffers loss sometime in their life. When the loss is overwhelming, we don’t know what to do next. We feel like we are down and will never get back up again. I offer a process and many illustrations for persons trying to recover from the loss of a loved one, of a job, of a spouse, of health, of independence, etc. I will present five actions for helping people get on the road to happiness again. This presentation is “How to Work Through Loss.” I have thirty years experience in pastoral ministry and teaching theology in college. I will bring this counseling, preaching, and teaching experience to this presentation.

I will speak to your group on the process of working through loss. Sometimes the loss is so great we wonder if we can ever recover. Over the years, I have coached others and myself through my five step process of recovery after suffering life-changing losses. I will present my thoughts to your group using power point and many illustrations from my ministries. I will leave your group feeling optimistic and hopeful about their future. I am a religious speaker; so, I will certainly speak from my faith in the providence of God referred to in the scripture, "We know that God works in all things for good for them that love him," (Rom. 8:28). This is a presentation of grace and hope.
After graduating from Duke University with a Ph.D. in New Testament, David Fiensy taught for seven years at Kentucky Christian University. He then served a two year tenure as campus minister in Tuebingen, Germany. Upon returning to the United States, he accepted a church pastorate for six years and then resumed teaching at Kentucky Christian University. He has also held several part time and interim pastoral ministries over the years. He is now semi-retired from university teaching and is involved in writing and speaking to churches, conferences, and colleges.
I will use power point so I need a projector and computer (or technician)
My education (B.A. in ministry; M.A. in history; and Ph.D. in New Testament) is the basis or foundation of my current ministry of writing and speaking. In addition, my experiences as teacher, minister, archaeologist, and writer have enriched both my knowledge base and my techniques in teaching.
