Common Call is based in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, and is in it's 13th year of ministry. The group is made up of five men that have been CALLED to go and sing of the good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our main reason for singing is none other than to tell others about Jesus through song and testimony, and to uplift the church, and edify the coming Kingdom!
Saw these guys at the Socastee Heritiage festival, they were awesome, even in the noise of the event you could see the dedication and love they ALL have for the Lord. It shows in their presence on stage and in their manner. Just a great group of guys!

David, (Baritone, Owner) the youngest of four boys, Preacher kids, grew up in a very talented and musical family. ‘I can remember my mother and a few other women singing “He Touched Me’ “The King is Coming” and many other Gaither songs” “I can remember the very time, I was 8 yrs old, riding with my father in a small country town in Cherryville N.C. going to visit an elderly man in the church and Dad put in an 8 track tape and the song came on “On the Jericho Road” by the legendary Florida Boys, I can remember at that time thinking that someday I wanted to have a group and sing gospel music for the Lord.”
At age 8, David was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a blinding eye disease, a condition that takes away the peripheral vision and eventually closes in and takes most all vision. David is currently legally blind.
David went on through High School then on to college where in 1992, David graduated from Liberty University, still with a desire to one day sing for the Lord. In 1994 David met his wonderful wife Lori, they married in April of 1995 and from that time until 1999 the Lord blessed them with two beautiful daughters. Grace and Ansley.
Still after praying and having a hearts desire in 2000 to serve the Lord in a music ministry, the Lord laid Acts 2:44 on David’s heart at work one day it says, “All the believers were gathered together and they had all things in common” At that moment David realized the name of the group he was to start…Common Call
Now 12 yrs later, Common Call continues to be a Lighthouse and a vessel for the Lords work. The Lord continues to bless Common Call through this ministry by allowing us to serve Him while doing something we have been all CALLED to do…Share the good news of Jesus Christ.
Filling the tenor position is Allen Thompkins from Mullins, South Carolina. Allen first joined Common Call in the summer of 2009 after receiving an invitation to audition from baritone/group owner David Lethco.
His earliest musical influence was his dad Paul, who traveled as the member of a band performing country, bluegrass, and gospel music up and down the coast from Charleston, SC to Virginia in the 1960's-70's. " I remember rehearsal nights and the sounds of harmony and music filling our little house...my favorite time though, was just sitting around listening to dad pick and sing by himself. I'm so grateful for him introducing music into my life." While attending a singing at his home church in 1993, he gave his life to the Lord..."I believe that God used my love of music to draw me to the place where I belong."
Allen lived in Tennessee for several years, where he had the opportunity to travel with both local and national gospel groups such as The Chuckwagon Gang, The Tennesseans Quartet, and Calvary Construction Company. He moved back to South Carolina in 2007, married his best friend Lisa, and they reside in Little River, South Carolina
Filling the lead position is Randy Atwood, growing up in church Randy was influenced by the Southern Gospel sounds at an early age. He started singing in church at around 6 years of age and has sung all types of music including gospel, bluegrass and country. Growing up Randy performed at the longest running live show on the Grand Strand “High Steppin’ Country”. From there he traveled to Nashville to perform at OpryLand USA. After which Randy enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he served for 4 years and is a veteran of Desert Storm. Soon after he left the service Randy became a law enforcement officer where he served for 12 years. All during this time Randy was searching for God’s plan for his life as he was feeling a constant tug in his spirit, that’s when Randy met Frank Hall, the owner of The Glory Road Quartet, were he got his first taste of 4 part harmony Southern Gospel style! Right away, I knew I was where I was supposed to be!”, Randy says. After a few years with the Glory Road, Randy was offered a job with a fulltime group out of Nashville called The Mystery Men Quartet as their lead singer. Randy traveled with the MMQ for almost a year until he felt the need to return home to Myrtle Beach. At present Randy lives in Little River with his wife of 3 years Phyllis, and their 3 year old “fur” kid Dixie, (a boxer mix).
“I am excited beyond words for this opportunity that God has placed before me, I am so very blessed and humbled to be a part of such a fine group of men dedicated to serving God and spreading the Good News of the Kingdom through song.” For in Him and through Him ALL things are possible like Paul wrote in Ephesians 3:20-21 "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus, throughout all generations forever and ever. AMEN"

"My name is Leonard Backman and I am the treasurer for Midland Gospel Singing Center and I just wanted to let your group know how much I enjoyed your singing last Saturday night. In my opinion, this was one of the most inspirational singings that we have had in a long time. Many other people in attendance (including Earl Outlaw) have expressed the same feeling. We have several groups that always seem to bring a good crowd and I am confident that Common Call will become one of those groups. I look forward to your next visit."
