Cover band that plays most of set bluegrass style. We combine many songs together and focus on bluegrass covers, 80's 70's funk, popular music. We have a lead singer/guitarist, mandolin player with backup vocals and a bass player with backup vocals.
It is extremely important when you host an event for clients that all parts come together. Chewbacky made our evening delightful. Great music and their interaction with our group made the evening. I hope they can play many more events for us.
Price Range: $300-$4,000

We bring the party! Will learn songs for events. You will remember us because no one covers the decade genres, funk, jamband, and popular songs like we do - combining songs and bluegrass style for many/most...
Chewbacky is a local 3-piece band located in Charleston, SC. Chewbacky plays cover songs in a unique way. Simplified, we are a Jamgrass/Bluegrass band that plays 80's, funk, Americana, Reggae, Rap and Classic Rock - in a semi-bluegrass style.
A typical setlist from Chewbacky can be 1-4 hours long and is one part 80's cover songs, some sprinkles of funk classics and Jamband tunes, layers of traditional bluegrass tunes and Americana, and some Classic Rock songs - all played in our own style. We mash many of our songs together - sometimes 3 or 4 songs - all played as one with transitions that create a unique sound not heard from any other local band. Our backgrounds, influences and styles are vastly different, making the fusion of our cover songs even more unique after we "bluegrass" them up. Chewbacky has around 500 songs in our playbook and we encourage our Gigmasters clients to request your favorite songs be played. Don't worry, if it is not on our playlist or rotation - we will learn it for your event - guaranteed.
Chewbacky was formed in 2008 with Scott Carpenter (Guitar/Vocals), Corey Kinsella (Mandolin/Guitar/Vocals) and Jason Hayes (Bass). We are regulars in the bar scene of Charleston and in the past, have booked special events only via word-of-mouth. We now are officially moving more toward special events and reducing our bar/club bookings...and are excited to be newly signed up for Gigmasters! Chewbacky books rehearsal dinners, fundraisers, large events and special events of all kinds, but no wedding receptions (but, yes on wedding rehearsal dinners and wedding cocktails).
***Per Request for your event at a nominal fee - Chewbacky has and can provide additional services at your event like:
-Projector, screen and other media for showing and playing your rehearsal dinner slide shows
-Professional audio and visual equipment and management for slide shows, special videos or media for presentation or background
-Can provide audio copies of speeches, presentations etc.
-Ask us for anything, if we can do it we will do it...for a nominal fee
We welcome any inquiries and would love to be a the music for any event experience!
We have all of our own equipment. We only need a plug in...
