Ara Kocharyan
Russian acrobat/circus performer based in New York City.
As an acrobatics performer and instructor, I love to combine a mastery of gymnastics with extensive experience of an athletic dancer.
Ara preformed at our nursing home during Comedy Week and it was such a wonderful experience. Ara interacted with each and every residents and brought a smile and a lot of laughs to everyone! It was truly an amazing and enjoyable performance.
Ara and Oli performed at a fundraiser for Rhythm Break Cares at the Davenport Theatre and they were phenomenal! They are skilled acrobats with great ability to adapt to various settings and situations. The ceilings at the theater were expected to be 8 feet high, so the duo used a chair and performed a lot of the acrobatics seated. It was brilliant! Ara and Oli are extremely professional, responsible, and a pleasure to work with.
I am a photographer and have worked with Ara & Oli a couple of times for photo shoots. They were professional and I am thankful for the work they did. Great performers too!
I got to catch a performance of "The Chair". Everyone in the audience loved it!
I highly recommend them.
Love you guys!

Ara Kocharyan is Russian acrobat/circus performer based in New York City. He based in Queens and working acrobat/circus performer full time.
Having started his training in acrobatics as a six-year-old in Krasnodar, Russia, by the age of eight Ara had reached the status of Master of Sports - the coveted honorary title among Russian athletes. He performed for years with a four man Russian Sport Acrobatic team as the top flyer in a four-high.
By 2007 Ara's propensity for physical movement led to a surprising but logical turn in his career: as a member of a modern dance troupe “Action”, Ara took part in a number of prestigious regional and national dancing tournaments – and soon added the title of Champion of Russia in Sports Dancing to his collection of accolades.
The same year, he enrolled in Kuban University, studying Economics. The following year, he began to explore the creative side of dance, finding a new passion in choreography. As the director of a dance studio, he founded “Dance Code” – a modern dance troupe. In just a few years, they earned a triple crown, winning at the “Students’ Spring” festival (Kuban, 2010, 2011, 2012) and winning the Grand Prix in Modern Dance at the International Dance Championship of the Black Sea Countries in 2013.
In parallel, Ara trained students in acrobatics and modern dance in his own private studio, joined the professional dance troupe “Decameron”, choreographed shows of a children dance theater, and performed on circus stage as an acrobat.
Eventually, thanks to his phenomenal agility and unique flexibility in absorbing and mastering very diverse styles of physical movement, Ara Kocharyan became one of the select few professional dancers to be chosen to work in Moscow under the direction of such renowned American choreographers as Daniel Ezralov, Michael Cotren Peña, Yasmine Lee and Tyler Gilstrap – and to participate in the opening ceremony for Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, on February 7, 2014.
Ara continued his journey by moving to New York City. He made his professional circus debut in Atlas Movement’s “THE OPTIMIST” 2017 & 2018 as the lead character.
This year, Ara has returned to his roots and has partnered with a base, developing a range of dynamic and theatrical acts within male duo partner acrobatics.
As an acrobatics performer and instructor, he loves to combine his mastery of gymnastics with his extensive experience of an athletic dancer. He looks forward to growing as a performer, artist and actor and welcome new opportunities.
