Rev Brian was very presentable, courteous, affable, knowledgeable, and prompt. We are in our 70’s, partners living together for several years previously, and this wasn’t our first rodeo. Our ceremony was a surprise for our gathered family members on Christmas Eve. They all knew we were getting married at some point but no date had ever been set. We couldn’t have asked for more. Rev Brian was perfect
Price Range: $425-$750
Gig Length: 5 - 25 minutes
Languages: English
My ceremonies are custom-tailored to best reflect your individuality. In general, they run an average of 15-20 minutes, including the processional and recessional. Some are much shorter, while others are a little longer.
Couples will come to me to officiate their wedding for a variety of different reasons. Perhaps they are of differing faiths, or their own faith will not allow them to be married according to its doctrines. Many of my clients consider themselves to be “spiritual, but not religious.” Or some want a secular service, but something more special than they would get from a Justice of the Peace.
Upon inquiry, I interview each of my clients to find out what kind of service they want. Once I enter into contract with them, I will provide them with some sample ceremonies, a few past ceremonies, plus other resources from which they can pick and choose whatever resonates with them.
If you want that “ministerial” look, I have a black ministerial robe and a white stole with rainbow stripes. Or I can wear a suit, if you prefer a more secular feel. Or if you’re somewhere in between, I can wear the stole without the robe. (See the image above.) Or if it’s a theme wedding, I’ll dress according to your theme! (Note: I do own authentic Jedi robes too!)
Once again, I am Rev. Brian. I was ordained as a Universal Life Church minister in December, 2005. I became ordained because I simply love weddings! I love being such a special part of a couple’s special day, helping them prepare for it, and making sure they experience one of the absolutely most amazing, blessed and beautiful moments in their lives!
My wife and I were married in 2000. We are an interfaith couple – I am a practicing Unitarian Universalist, and she is a Conservative Jew. We designed our ceremony together, culling from several traditions, and that’s when I discovered my passion for designing ceremonies.
A few years later, I attended an old friend’s wedding, and I discovered that his officiant became ordained just to do his wedding. My initial thought was, “You can do that???” I knew that I had to become ordained as well!
When I am not working with wedding clients on one of the most important and blessed moments of their lives, I also work as an independent film and video producer/director/writer, an actor, a musician, and a variety of other part-time and freelance vocations. As a minister, I take my spiritual path very seriously, and so I share what I discover along the way on my podcast, Success Odyssey, which can be found on the Inspirational Internet Radio Network.
Generally, once I receive an inquiry, I will ask for the basic details of the wedding – the names of the bride and groom, and the date, time and location of the wedding. Based on that information, I will generate a contract, which I will send to you via e-mail. The contract can be returned to me via regular mail, or scanned and e-mailed, or faxed back to me. I also usually ask for a non-refundable retainer of $150 to secure the date.
Once I receive the signed contract and the deposit, I will send you several sample ceremonies, perhaps a few of my previous ceremonies, along with a large volume of other resources of ceremonies and specific ceremony elements (vows, readings, ring ceremonies, etc.).
I ask that the balance of the fee be paid on the day of the rehearsal, or if there is no rehearsal, then no less than 3 days prior to the wedding date. Some clients prefer to pay me even a few weeks prior, which is fine as well.
Contractually, I will arrive 15 minutes before your ceremony begins. In practice, I aim to arrive at least 30-60 minutes before the ceremony begins, just to make sure everything is running smoothly. I allow even extra travel time for longer distances.
This situation has not happened yet, and I certainly don’t plan for it to be, but if you have paid in full, and for some reason I are unable to make the wedding, I have a contingency plan. In most cases, if the onus is on me for not being there, I have a network of at least 20 other officiants in the area whom I can contact to replace me at the last minute. I will ask that they will honor whatever rate we have set, and I will forward whatever fees you have paid onto that officiant, as well as a copy of your ceremony which we have put together. Even if I can’t be there, I always ensure that I am creating Another Happy Couple! (Other force majeure situations, etc. are covered in my standard contract.)
More details will be included in the contract that I will send you.

My own minister has influenced my style greatly - very mild mannered and easy-going, simple yet eloquent, always knows the right way to address any topic with finesse, and always knows when to include a thoughtful bit of humor and love! He officiated my own wedding, and I'd have no other do it.
All of this is up to you, depending upon the nature of your service!
